Description
The Genelec 8331A is the most compact member of The Ones family — a 3-way SAM coaxial point-source monitor that delivers exceptional imaging from a remarkably small enclosure. Its Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver technology places the midrange and tweeter concentrically on the same acoustic axis, eliminating inter-driver time-of-flight differences for a coherent, phase-accurate soundfield regardless of listening distance or orientation. GLM software calibration adapts the monitor's response to the room with surgical precision.
Acoustic Design
- Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC): Coaxially mounted 90 mm midrange and 19 mm tweeter deliver true point-source performance with consistent directivity
- Dual oval bass drivers: Two 65 x 130 mm elliptical woofers in a sealed enclosure provide controlled, accurate low-frequency reproduction
- Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW): Shapes directivity across the full bandwidth for minimal room interaction and wide sweet spot
- Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): Die-cast aluminium cabinet with curved surfaces eliminates edge diffraction
- Iso-Pod stand: Decouples the monitor and allows tilt/orientation adjustment
SAM (Smart Active Monitoring)
The 8331A is part of Genelec's SAM system. Connected via GLM network (dual RJ45), the monitor is individually calibrated using the GLM software and measurement microphone. Room response is analysed and corrected with up to 16 individual filters per monitor, compensating for room modes, boundary effects, and speaker-to-speaker variation. Level, distance delay, and subwoofer integration are managed automatically.
