Description
The Genelec 8050B is a powerful bi-amplified active studio monitor featuring an 8" bass driver and 1" metal dome tweeter. Built for nearfield monitoring in larger control rooms, music studios, and post-production suites, the 8050B delivers 110 dB of output with bass extension down to 35 Hz (-6 dB). Its 270W of combined amplification provides effortless headroom for demanding material at extended listening distances without compression or fatigue.
Acoustic Design
- Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): All-aluminium enclosure engineered to eliminate parallel surfaces and reduce edge diffraction
- Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW): Provides controlled directivity and consistent imaging across a wide sweet spot
- Reflex port design: Large rear port with flow-optimized geometry prevents turbulence noise at high output levels
- Iso-Pod stand: Decouples the monitor from the mounting surface and allows precise axis alignment through tilt adjustment
- Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS): Automatic standby mode for reduced idle power consumption
Room Compensation
Rear-panel controls provide Treble Tilt, Bass Tilt (0 to -6 dB in 2 dB steps), Bass Roll-Off, and Desktop EQ settings. These allow the 8050B to be precisely tuned for any room environment, compensating for wall proximity, console reflections, and boundary reinforcement.
