Description
The Genelec 8020D is a compact bi-amplified active studio monitor featuring a 4" bass driver and 3/4" metal dome tweeter. The latest revision of an enduring studio classic, the 8020D delivers higher SPL and lower energy consumption than its predecessors while maintaining the precise imaging Genelec is known for. Its compact MDE aluminium enclosure and versatile mounting options make it suitable for nearfield monitoring, broadcast control rooms, surround systems, and home studios.
Acoustic Design
- Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): Die-cast aluminium cabinet with rounded geometry minimizes edge diffraction
- Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW): Provides consistent off-axis response, reducing the influence of early room reflections
- Iso-Pod stand: Acoustic and mechanical decoupling with adjustable tilt for precise axis alignment
- Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS): Auto-standby when no signal is detected, reducing idle power consumption to under 0.5W
Room Compensation
Rear-panel DIP switches provide Treble Tilt, Bass Tilt (0 to -6 dB in 2 dB steps), Bass Roll-Off, and a Desktop EQ setting that applies a -4 dB notch at 200 Hz to compensate for boundary reinforcement when placed on a desk or shelf.
