Description
The Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic is an eight-channel microphone preamplifier with per-channel analog compression, 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA conversion, and bidirectional ADAT optical I/O. It expands any ADAT-equipped interface with eight additional mic/line inputs and eight analog outputs.
Built-In Compression
The OctoPre Dynamic builds on the standard OctoPre by adding a soft-knee VCA compressor to every input channel and full D-A conversion through its ADAT inputs. Each channel has a single-knob Compress control that sets the threshold, and a "More" button that doubles the compression ratio for more aggressive dynamics control. A gain reduction LED on each channel confirms when compression is active.
Flexible Output Routing
The eight balanced line outputs can be sourced from the mic preamps (for live sound) or from the ADAT inputs (for routing DAW tracks to an analog console). This ADAT-to-LINE mode makes the OctoPre Dynamic a flexible expansion for both recording and mixdown.
