AWG (American Wire Gauge) indicates cable thickness. Lower AWG numbers (like 12 AWG) offer thicker cable with less resistance, ideal for high-power amplifiers, longer cable runs, and demanding professional scenarios. Higher AWG numbers (like 14 AWG) provide standard thickness suited for most moderate power, shorter-distance setups.
Conductor count (/2, /4, /8) refers to the number of internal wires inside the cable:
- 2-Conductor (e.g. 14/2, 12/2) : Carries a single audio channel (one positive, one negative). Standard PA speakers, monitors, and single-channel setups.
- 4-Conductor (14/4, 12/4) supports two audio channels or bi-amping setups—perfect for advanced speaker cabinets, dual signals in one cable.
- 8-Conductor (12/8) : Supports complex multi-channel audio setups like professional touring rigs, stage arrays, and large-scale installations.
