Description
The Blackstar TV-10 A is a 10-watt, single-ended Class A tube combo with a 6L6 power tube and an ECC83 preamp tube, voiced after classic American amplifiers. It is built for home practice, the studio and smaller gigs, with a short set of controls: Gain, Tone, Reverb and Master, plus a switchable drive circuit and a Celestion speaker. A speaker-emulated output taken after the power amp lets you record or practice through headphones with the tube power stage in the sound.
From Clean to Lead
Low Gain settings stay clean, and turning Gain up drives the tubes into a warm, light overdrive that follows your playing and your guitar. The 6L6 gives a bright clean tone and, with the Master turned up, a hot lead sound with natural compression. The Drive switch adds a built-in overdrive circuit that runs from crunch to a smooth, singing lead. With Drive pressed in, the included 1-button footswitch turns the drive on and off, and an optional FS-8 footswitch also switches the reverb.
Recording and Silent Practice
The emulated output takes its signal after the power amp, so the 6L6 and the output transformer are part of what you record. Switch to Standby and the speaker goes silent while the emulated output keeps working, which turns it into a headphone output for quiet practice. The output needs a TRS (stereo) lead, and Blackstar supplies a TRS Y-lead to split it to mono. Three speaker outputs let the internal 16-ohm speaker run alongside a 16-ohm extension cabinet, and a series effects loop switches between +4 dBV and -10 dBV for studio gear or pedals.
