Description
The Blackstar Sonnet 120 is a 120-watt acoustic amp for solo performers and duos who need a mic channel and an instrument channel in one compact combo. A custom 8-inch speaker and two tweeters in a ported cabinet cover the full range of an acoustic instrument, from body resonance to piezo top end. Both channels get phantom power, a pad, anti-feedback, an effects loop and an XLR DI output, and Bluetooth, USB audio and a line input round out the connections. This version has black covering with a black grille and control panel.
Two Full Channels
Each channel takes a mic or an instrument on an XLR/1/4-inch combo input, and the jack side has a very high input impedance for piezo pickups. Each one has +48 V phantom power, a -10 dB pad, Gain, a Shape switch (flat, or a mid cut with low and high lift), Low, Mid and High EQ, a sweepable Anti-Feedback notch, a Phase switch and its own reverb level. Hall, Studio, Chamber and Plate reverbs share a Reverb Time control, and global High Pass Filter and Brilliance controls set the low end and the top.
Stage and Recording Connections
On the rear panel, each channel has its own effects loop and a balanced XLR DI output that switches between the dry input and the signal after gain and EQ. A third XLR sends a mix of both channels, reverb included, to the PA, with a ground lift switch. USB audio works without special drivers, and Blackstar's free RecRoute software sets the recording output to a mix of both channels with reverb or each channel dry on its own side. Bluetooth and the stereo mini-jack input play backing tracks, and all four inputs work at once.
