Description
The Blackstar FLY 3 Bass in Shell Pink is a 3-watt mini amp for bass guitar. It has clean and overdrive channels, a variable mid-cut EQ, a compressor and a Sub control driving a 3-inch speaker, and it runs on six AA batteries or DC power. That makes it a practice amp you can take anywhere and a small speaker for music from a phone or tablet.
Tone Controls
The EQ control sets the depth of a mid cut. Fully counterclockwise it is nearly flat with a slight mid boost, and fully clockwise it cuts around 400 Hz, while a second section of the control keeps the overall level about the same. COMP raises the ratio of the built-in compressor from 1:1 to smooth out peaks and attack, and SUB blends in a harmonic generator for more low-end weight.
Practice and Stereo
The MP3 / Line In lets you play along with songs, and the speaker-emulated output feeds headphones or a recorder and mutes the speaker while in use. Add a FLY 103 extension cabinet for a 6-watt stereo setup.
