Description
The Avantone Pro CLA-10 is a passive two-way studio monitor pair developed with mixer Chris Lord-Alge as a modern recreation of the classic white-cone nearfield. Sealed cabinets, an 18 cm woofer, and a 3.5 cm soft-dome tweeter deliver the familiar mid-forward reference many engineers still use for vocal clarity, guitar balance, and translation checks.
White-Cone Reference Behavior
CLA-10 is intended as a secondary truth-teller alongside full-range mains: push the midrange forward, expose harshness and masking, and reveal balances that disappear on larger systems. Current Passive units include a TPC high-frequency -2 dB switch for rooms or tastes that need a slightly softer top.
Amplifier Matching
As a passive pair, CLA-10 needs an external amplifier. Avantone's CLA-100 (100 W/ch) and CLA-200 (200 W/ch) are purpose-built companions; any clean studio amp rated for 8 Ω loads in that power range will also work.
