Description
The ASM Hydrasynth Desktop is a rack-mountable 8-voice wave-morphing synthesizer with 24 velocity and pressure-sensitive Polytouch pads. It carries the same sound engine as the Hydrasynth Keyboard in a 5U desktop/rack format, letting you play, perform, and design patches without an external keyboard.
Sound Engine
Three WaveScan oscillators per voice offer 219 single-cycle waveforms, processed through four Mutator waveshapers with eight shaping modes. A five-source mixer feeds two filters (series or parallel routing): Filter 1 provides 16 selectable models, Filter 2 is a 12 dB/octave SEM-style state-variable design. Five DAHDSR envelopes and five LFOs (with 64-step pattern mode) per voice feed a 32-slot modulation matrix.
Pads and Performance
The 24 Polytouch pads are both velocity and polyphonic-pressure sensitive, providing expressive note input without an external controller. Multiple pad layout modes and quick-access scale modes make it straightforward to play melodically or chromatically. The unit also supports voice overflow with a second Hydrasynth connected via MIDI for expanded polyphony.
