Description
The Ashly neWR-5 is the network version of Ashly's WR-5 Decora wall remote. It mounts in a standard North American electrical wall box and connects over Cat-5 Ethernet, so you can control an Ashly network-enabled amplifier or processor from wherever the remote is installed.
It has six programmable buttons and an up/down cursor with a two-digit LED display. The buttons can be programmed as source select, zone select or to trigger presets, and each one lights green, red or amber to show its status. The up/down cursor is typically used as a volume control with a software-defined range: it sets relative gain from 0 to 99 between upper and lower limits you choose.
One neWR-5 controls one Ashly NE amplifier or processor. Within that unit it can recall or scroll presets, mute channels, select zone sources, and set channel and matrix point levels. It can also switch logic outputs on the ne24.24M with the GPO option and on the NE4800 and NE8800. On products without DSP it is limited to preset recall and scroll, mute and logic functions. All programming is done over the network in Ashly Protea NE software for Windows, a free download from Ashly.
Compatible Ashly Products
- nXe and nXp amplifiers
- Pema amplifiers
- NE multi-channel and two-channel amplifiers
- ne24.24M matrix processor
- NE8800 and NE4800 network processors
Installation
Power the neWR-5 from a PoE switch, hub or inline injector. Ashly's RPOE-1 PoE injector is sold separately. Where PoE is not available, a DC supply wires to a Euroblock connector on the back. A Decora cover plate is not included and can be bought at hardware stores. To protect against static discharge, Ashly says to mount the remote in an earth-grounded metal wall box and earth-ground its metal cover plate.
