Description
The Apogee Groove 40th Anniversary Edition is a bus-powered USB digital-to-analog converter and headphone amplifier for Mac and Windows. It replaces the computer's built-in headphone output with 32-bit conversion at up to 192 kHz and enough drive for demanding studio headphones.
Conversion and Headphone Drive
Groove uses an ESS Sabre DAC in Apogee's Quad Sum DAC configuration, summing four converter outputs to lower the noise floor. Constant Current Drive powers the headphones with a steady current rather than a fixed voltage, which keeps frequency response consistent as headphone impedance changes across the audio band.
