Our Custom Masterworks models offer elegance and tonality, with features and premium tonewoods and components throughout. The slim front-bevel armrest reduces negative impact to top performance while offering comfort, especially when playing longer sessions. The ergonomics continue with a second bevel on the back side of the guitar. This “chest-rest” is a slim bevel at the back waist and lower bout which often leans into your body when playing. Removing this edge allows you to lean the guitar into the body without the binding creating any discomfort. The look and feel add comfort and a striking aesthetic to this custom model.

The feature list on Custom models continues with premium abalone purfling, a flawless Shadowburst finish and cutaway. Like all Masterworks, Masterworks Custom is fitted with the LR Baggs HiFi system. HiFi is a new powered-sensor pickup system that delivers an exceptional reproduction of the guitar’s tonality and acoustic personality.

This MG66ce Custom is a striking guitar, with our Shadowburst finish bringing the beautiful Mahogany to life, and the abalone purfling giving the instrument a striking frame from every angle. As an all-solid wood guitar, you can expect a warm, woody voice with excellent lower and upper mids, golden trebles and clear bass response.

About the Alvarez Masterworks Series

Making a guitar from all-solid wood delivers strong tonal benefits, and we approach the design of Masterworks to embrace all of them. Top thickness, brace weight and tapering, back design and wood choice all count, and when each is considered as a part of the sum total of the instrument’s voice, great articulation and quality of tone is achieved.

Our FS6 bracing system is a forward-shifted, scalloped X allowing for a slightly larger soundboard area around the bridge. This helps generate more vibration, which is heightened by AAA soundboards and premium components throughout, culminating in powerful voicing, inspiring articulation and instant response.

Masterworks acoustic-electric models are fitted with the LR Baggs HiFi system. HiFi is a premium, non-invasive design that pairs dual bridge plate sensors with high-fidelity electronics, providing exceptional balance, definition and dynamics. Due to the closed sensor design, HiFi also has excellent feedback resistance and its built-in, studio-quality preamp is voiced to complement the pickups for an optimal plug-and-play experience.

All Masterworks ship with our durable AFC30 Flexicase.
