About Promuco Percussion

Promuco Percussion is an Irish manufacturer with over 50 years of experience building drumsticks, heads, and accessories for working drummers. Based in County Wexford, they combine traditional craftsmanship with modern production techniques to deliver consistent, reliable gear at accessible prices. Their American Hickory and Oak stick lines cover standard sizes from 7A to 2B, and their Heritage 2-Ply Oil-Filled drumheads have earned a reputation for durability and tone control. Promuco also produces the John Bonham Signature sticks, a faithful recreation of the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer's preferred specs.

Drumsticks: Hickory, Oak, and Maple

Promuco offers three wood types to match your playing style and tonal preference. American Hickory sticks balance strength and flex, making them the go-to for most rock, pop, and session work. Oak sticks are denser and heavier, delivering more volume and durability for hard hitters. Rock Maple sticks are lighter and more responsive, ideal for jazz, fusion, or players who want less fatigue over long sets. All three lines come in 2B, 5A, 5B, and 7A sizes with wood or nylon tips. The nylon tips give you brighter cymbal definition and longer tip life.

Drumheads: Heritage, Shadow, and Stealth

Promuco's Heritage 2-Ply Oil-Filled heads are the standout here. The oil layer between plies dampens overtones without killing resonance, giving you a focused, punchy sound that sits well in a mix. They're available in sizes from 10" to 22". The Shadow Black heads offer a single-ply option with a coated black finish for a darker, more controlled tone. For practice and low-volume playing, the Stealth Black Mesh heads reduce volume by up to 80% while maintaining realistic rebound and feel. They fit standard acoustic kits and work well for apartment drummers or late-night sessions.

Brushes and Rods

Promuco makes retractable wire and nylon brushes for jazz, ballads, and studio work where you need articulation without overpowering the mix. The wire brushes are medium gauge and offer good snap on snare drums. The nylon brushes are quieter and gentler on coated heads. Their Bamboo Rods come in 12-rod and 19-rod configurations, giving you a middle ground between sticks and brushes. The 19-rod version has more body and attack, while the 12-rod is lighter and more delicate. Both are solid choices for acoustic gigs or unplugged sessions.
