About Markbass
Markbass is an Italian bass amplification company founded in 2001 by Marco De Virgiliis. They built their reputation on lightweight, high-powered Class D bass heads and cabinets that deliver serious volume without the back-breaking weight of traditional tube amps. Their signature yellow speaker cones and compact form factor became instantly recognizable on stages worldwide. Markbass gear is known for warm, punchy tone with clear articulation across the frequency spectrum. Artists like Marcus Miller, Jeff Berlin, and Alain Caron have signature models in the lineup. The company also manufactures bass guitars under the MB Gloxy line, applying the same design philosophy to instruments.
Bass Amplifier Heads
Markbass heads are built around their proprietary Class D power sections and analog preamps. The Little Mark series includes the Little Mark IV at 500W and the Little Mark Ninja at 1000W, both delivering full power into compact chassis that weigh under five pounds. The Little Mark Vintage models add a tube preamp stage for warmth and harmonic saturation. Signature models like the Little Marcus (Marcus Miller) and Little AG (Andrew Gouché) offer artist-voiced EQ curves and compression circuits. The LMK is a two-channel head designed for switching between passive and active basses or running two distinct tones. All heads include Markbass's VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Preamplifier Filter) controls for quick tone shaping.
Bass Combo Amplifiers
Markbass combos range from practice-sized units to full stage rigs. The Black Line series includes the CMB 101 (40W, 1x10), CMB 121 (150W, 1x12), and CMB 151 (150W, 1x15) for rehearsal and small venue work. The CMD series steps up with 300W combos like the CMD 102P (2x10) and CMD Traveler 102P, which includes a tilt-back cabinet design for monitoring. The CMD JB Players School is a Jeff Berlin signature model with a 1x15 configuration and his preferred voicing. These combos use the same preamp circuits as the heads, so your tone translates directly when you scale up to a separate head and cabinet rig.
Bass Cabinets and Accessories
Markbass cabinets use neodymium speakers to keep weight down while maintaining power handling. The Standard series includes 4x10 and 1x15 configurations in both front-ported (HF) and rear-ported (HR) versions. The Traveler 102P is a portable 2x10 option. Markbass also manufactures bass-specific accessories: the Bass Keeper strap system for securing cabinets during transport, the Mark Stand folding cabinet stand for angled monitoring, and the Compressore Tube bass compressor pedal with a 12AX7 tube circuit. Fitted covers are available for most combo and cabinet models to protect your gear on the road.
MB Gloxy Bass Guitars
The MB Gloxy bass line includes both passive and active instruments built to Markbass specifications. The GV 4 and GV 5 models come in multiple finishes with maple or rosewood fingerboards, available in both active and passive electronics. The Kimandu series offers premium woods and extended upper fret access. The Black Panther 5 is an Alain Caron signature model with active electronics and a 35-inch scale. All Gloxy basses ship with Markbass-designed pickups and preamps voiced to complement their amplification. Bass ramps are available separately for the Kimandu models to support right-hand technique.
