Alesis Kitstream: A Stereo Mic and Recorder That Mounts on Your Kick Drum (2026)
The Alesis Kitstream is $549 CAD. It is made for acoustic drummers who want to record, livestream or post drum covers without buying a set of microphones, stands and a mixer. You mount it on your kick drum, and its built-in stereo microphone captures the whole kit.
One box on the kick drum
A typical drum recording setup puts a microphone on each drum and runs every cable into a mixer or interface. The Kitstream does that job with one compact unit that mounts directly on your kick drum and holds the microphone, the recorder, the effects and the sounds.
The knobs on the front are marked Mic, Trigger, Reverb and Effect. Reverb, compression, EQ and effects are built in, so what you play can go out as finished content without extra gear.
Recording and streaming
Press Rec and the Kitstream records on its own, with room for 50 hours onboard. Connect it to a computer over USB-C and it feeds a livestream or records straight into your DAW. Ableton Live Lite is included if you do not have a DAW yet.
Bluetooth audio input brings a backing track in from your phone, so you can practice along with it. An aux input on the back takes a wired source, and the headphone jacks sit on the side.
Triggers and onboard sounds
A kick trigger is built in alongside the microphone. Trigger inputs on the back, marked Snare, Toms and Ext, take more drum and cymbal triggers in single-zone or dual-zone form. Hybrid drummers can keep the acoustic kit and add triggers to the drums where they want an electronic sound.
The Kitstream also holds 500 onboard drum and percussion sounds, and you can import samples of your own.
Who the Kitstream is for
If you make drum videos for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook, or stream your playing live, the Kitstream was designed around that job. Beginner and intermediate drummers get a recording setup they can run without learning a mixer. Home musicians get drum recordings without a studio.
Drum teachers and students get a simple way to record a lesson or a practice session. Gigging drummers get a compact unit that travels in its own carrying case.
What comes with it
The Kitstream ships with a protective carrying case, a USB-C cable, a cable wrap and a drum key. Ableton Live Lite and a Drumeo subscription are included as well.
