Genelec Smart IP Install Speakers: On-Wall, In-Ceiling, Pendant and PoE Sub (2026)
Genelec Smart IP starts at $974 CAD with the 4410A and reaches $2384 CAD with the 3440A subwoofer. This range is for AV installers, venue operators and production teams building networked sound systems for retail, hospitality, meeting rooms and public spaces. Each Smart IP model carries power, audio and control on one Ethernet cable, reducing the need for local mains outlets, external amplifiers and long analogue runs. The $1562 CAD 4435A is aimed at finished-ceiling installs, while the $2078 CAD 4436A suits open rooms where suspended coverage makes more sense than wall mounting.
Genelec Smart IP Overview
Genelec has built its reputation on active loudspeakers, with amplification, crossover filtering and protection built into each cabinet. Smart IP brings that same approach to installed audio, using Ethernet for power, network audio and control.
Every Smart IP loudspeaker uses an RJ45 connection for Dante or AES67 audio streams, power delivery and management. Genelec recommends PoE+ under IEEE 802.3at, with Class 4 power rated at 30 W per port. Standard PoE under IEEE 802.3af also works, but it reduces the time a loudspeaker can sustain maximum output. For low-level background playback this may be acceptable. For busy retail floors, restaurants or event spaces, PoE+ is the sensible system design choice.
Smart IP Manager software handles device discovery, room equalisation, level, delay, zones and status monitoring. The Smart IP Controller app gives staff access to volume, mute, power and zone controls on iOS and Android. Each loudspeaker also includes an API for third-party automation systems. A correctly configured network can support hundreds of Smart IP loudspeakers on one LAN, though every speaker needs its own switch port. Smart IP speakers cannot be daisy-chained.
Smart IP Product Line Breakdown
On-Wall Installation Speakers
The Genelec 4410A is $974 CAD for small rooms, background music zones and compact networked installations where you need clear playback without a separate amplifier rack. It is the most compact Smart IP model, making it a practical choice for reception areas, corridors, boutiques, small meeting rooms and distributed music systems.
The 4410A uses a 76 mm woofer and 19 mm metal dome tweeter, with 18 W of Class D amplification assigned to each driver. It reaches at least 96 dB short-term SPL on PoE+. Its only input is the RJ45 network port, so it is best suited to systems built around Dante, AES67 or ST2110-30 audio. There is no analogue input. A simple wall bracket is included, while rear M6 mounting threads and a 3/8 inch UNC base thread support other mounting options.
The Genelec 4420A is $1326 CAD for small commercial rooms that need more output and bass weight than the 4410A can provide. It fits boardrooms, galleries, cafés, retail spaces and hospitality rooms where music and speech playback both need to stay clear at useful levels.
A 105 mm woofer, 19 mm metal dome tweeter and 50 W Class D amplifier per driver give the 4420A at least 100 dB short-term SPL on PoE+. It accepts Dante and AES67 over Ethernet, plus balanced analogue line audio through its Euroblock input. That analogue connection is useful in hybrid installations with a local source or an existing line-level distribution system. The supplied keyhole bracket handles simple wall mounting, while rear M6 points support wall, ceiling, floor and truss accessories.
The Genelec 4430A is $1504 CAD for larger meeting rooms, restaurants, shops and commercial spaces that need more level than the smaller Smart IP cabinets. It handles foreground music, presentations and general programme playback in rooms where a compact speaker still needs to cover a meaningful area.
The 4430A has a 130 mm woofer, 19 mm metal dome tweeter and 50 W of Class D amplification per driver. It reaches at least 104 dB short-term SPL on PoE+, placing it at the top of the on-wall Smart IP range for output. Dante and AES67 arrive through the network port, while the balanced Euroblock input supports analogue audio. Rear M6 mounting points allow wall or ceiling installation, and a basic wall bracket is included.
In-Ceiling Speakers
The Genelec 4435A is $1562 CAD for finished ceilings that need discreet, networked music, paging or presentation audio. It is a strong fit for boardrooms, hospitality spaces, galleries, retail environments and restaurants where visible wall-mounted speakers would interrupt the room design.
The 4435A uses a 130 mm woofer and 19 mm metal dome tweeter, with 50 W Class D amplification driving each unit. It reaches at least 104 dB short-term SPL on PoE+ and provides 120 degree horizontal by 100 degree vertical coverage. That broad pattern can make room coverage easier to plan with fewer loudspeakers in the right ceiling layout.
One CAT cable supplies power, Dante or AES67 audio and control, and the speaker also accepts balanced analogue line audio on a Euroblock connector. Three front-accessible latches clamp the enclosure into the ceiling board. This white round-grille version is the natural choice for white finished ceilings. The magnetic grille can also be spray painted to suit the room, and Genelec makes a square-grille version of the 4435A. The pre-construction bracket is sold separately.
Pendant Speakers
The Genelec 4436A is $2078 CAD for open-plan spaces with high or exposed ceilings where wall placement leaves the sound source too far from listeners. It is built for cafés, atriums, warehouses, open retail floors and hospitality venues that need sound distributed over a large area without filling the perimeter walls with cabinets.
The 4436A hangs from an included five metre adjustable wire and uses the same 130 mm woofer, 19 mm metal dome tweeter and 50 W per driver amplification as the 4430A and 4435A. It reaches at least 104 dB short-term SPL on PoE+. Genelec has voiced it for suspended placement, accounting for the reduced bass reinforcement that comes with placing a loudspeaker away from walls and ceilings.
Dante and AES67 network audio, power and control arrive through one CAT cable. A balanced Euroblock input also accepts analogue line audio. The black steel enclosure works especially well in dark interiors, exposed ceilings and industrial architectural spaces. Cable-entry covers and a magnetic round grille help keep the completed installation tidy.
PoE Subwoofers
The Genelec 3440A is $2384 CAD for Smart IP installations that need more low-end output than compact full-range cabinets can deliver on their own. It is useful in restaurants, lounges, fitness studios, retail spaces and presentation rooms where music needs proper weight rather than thin background playback.
The 3440A extends Genelec 4400 series Smart IP systems down to 35 Hz and reaches at least 106 dB short-term SPL on PoE+. Smart IP Manager lets you set bass management between 50 Hz and 120 Hz, apply a matching high-pass filter to the main speakers, then align delay and level.
Like the Smart IP loudspeakers, the 3440A receives PoE power, Dante or AES67 audio and control through a single CAT cable. It also has a balanced Euroblock analogue input. The cabinet can stand upright, sit on its side or mount on a wall or ceiling with the optional 3440-400B bracket. At 14.5 kg, it needs a properly planned mounting surface if you are installing it off the floor.
Mains-Powered Installation Speakers
The Genelec 4040A is $1533 CAD for larger fixed installations that need more sustained level than a PoE speaker is intended to provide. It is designed for theatres, conference rooms, museums, galleries, restaurants and sports centres where mains power and analogue distribution are already part of the plan.
The 4040A uses a 165 mm woofer, 19 mm metal dome tweeter and 120 W Class AB amplification for each driver. It reaches at least 109 dB short-term SPL, exceeding the output available from the Smart IP cabinets. Its balanced Phoenix input, room response controls and 12 V trigger support make it suitable for traditional installed audio systems. Choose the 4040A when output is the priority and you do not need audio-over-IP distribution.
Who Is Genelec Smart IP For?
Genelec Smart IP is for installers and system designers who want central control, network audio and consistent loudspeaker voicing without relying on separate amplifiers in every zone. It makes the most sense in systems already using Dante or AES67, especially projects that need multiple zones, staff control and ongoing monitoring from one network.
The 4410A is the compact choice for small rooms and lower-level background music. The 4420A adds useful output and analogue input flexibility. The 4430A is the on-wall model for larger rooms and stronger playback. Use the 4435A where the ceiling needs to stay visually clean, and use the 4436A where open architecture makes pendant placement the better option. The 3440A is the right addition when the system needs deeper bass and proper bass management.
Network planning matters. Every Smart IP speaker requires its own switch port, and Genelec's recommended PoE+ Class 4 power gives the best result for higher-level playback. Plain PoE is usable, but it is a compromise for sustained foreground music.
