About Rhodes

Rhodes Music Group Ltd relaunched the Rhodes brand in 2021 from Leeds, United Kingdom, under the leadership of Matt Pelling, founder of Loopmasters. The company holds an exclusive license from Joseph Brandstetter, who acquired the Rhodes trademark in 2004, to manufacture instruments under the Rhodes name. Chief Product Officer Dan Goldman, a vintage Rhodes repair specialist, led the design of the MK8 hardware electric piano and voiced the first unit built. That same instrument became the source for the Rhodes V8 plugin, the first official Rhodes software. The V8 draws from roughly 30,000 samples with up to 127 velocity layers and 14 articulations, combining deep multi-sampling with modelling in a hybrid engine. Rhodes now builds both physical electric pianos in Leeds and a growing line of official plugins that recreate the company's own instruments plus other classic electro-mechanical keyboards.

Rhodes V8 and V8 Pro

The Rhodes V8 is the flagship plugin, sampled from the first MK8 electric piano Dan Goldman built and voiced. It captures the full dynamic range of that instrument across 127 velocity layers and 14 articulations, including key-off noise, pedal mechanics, and tine resonance. The V8 Pro adds extended effects, deeper tone shaping, and preset management for producers who need more than the core sound. Both plugins run on the same hybrid engine that pairs sample playback with physical modelling, so you get the weight and character of a real Rhodes with the flexibility software allows. If you want the official Rhodes sound in your DAW, this is the starting point.

Rhodes Anthology

Rhodes Anthology bundles recreations of multiple electro-mechanical keyboards on a single engine. It includes the V8, Wurlitzer by Rhodes, and Rhodes Clav Pro, which models a 1977 Hohner Clavinet D6 Transition. The Anthology engine handles the multi-sampling and modelling for all three instruments, so you get consistent workflow and effects across different keyboard types. This is the option if you need Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and Clavinet tones in one package without managing separate plugins.

Effects and Utilities

Rhodes V-Rack, V-Pan, Vari-Amp, Pianology, and Chroma are dedicated effects and processors designed for electric piano signals. V-Rack models classic outboard gear used with Rhodes pianos. V-Pan handles stereo imaging and tremolo. Vari-Amp recreates the preamp circuits from vintage Rhodes models. Pianology and Chroma add layering, tone shaping, and modulation tailored to electric piano frequencies. These plugins work with any electric piano source, but they're voiced specifically for the harmonic profile of a Rhodes or Wurlitzer.
