About Celemony

Celemony Software GmbH, founded in Munich in 2000 by Peter Neubäcker, Carsten Gehle and Hildegard Sourgens, builds audio editing software that lets you move, retune and reshape individual notes inside recorded audio. The company's flagship product, Melodyne, debuted at Winter NAMM 2001 and became the de facto standard for musical pitch and timing correction. In 2009, Celemony shipped Direct Note Access, a breakthrough technology that isolates and edits individual notes inside polyphonic recordings. That same DNA engine now powers Tonalic, a tool that adapts session-musician performances of guitar, bass and drums to your song. Celemony also produces Capstan, a specialized tool for removing wow and flutter from tape and vinyl transfers.

Melodyne 5

Melodyne 5 is the core pitch and timing editor. It displays audio as notes, not waveforms, so you can adjust pitch, timing, vibrato and formant on a per-note basis. ARA integration with host DAWs means you can edit directly in your session without bouncing or rendering. The Studio edition includes Direct Note Access for polyphonic material, so you can fix a single string in a guitar chord or adjust one voice in a backing vocal stack. Assistant and Essential editions handle monophonic sources and are priced for home studios. Editor sits in the middle, adding multitrack note editing and tempo detection. All four editions use the same engine; the difference is feature depth.

Tonalic

Tonalic, launched in January 2026, is a Celemony product built on the Melodyne engine. It takes pre-recorded performances by session musicians and adapts them to your song's key, tempo and arrangement. You get guitar, bass and drum tracks that follow your chord changes and structure without hiring a band. Tonalic is sold by subscription or prepaid licence in arranger and studio editions. The arranger edition covers basic adaptations; studio adds deeper control over performance nuance. Licences are available in 30-day and 1-year terms.

Capstan

Capstan removes wow and flutter from tape and vinyl transfers. It analyzes pitch drift across the frequency spectrum and corrects it without introducing artifacts. If you're archiving analogue recordings or restoring old masters, Capstan handles speed instability that standard pitch correction tools cannot touch. It runs as a standalone application and processes files offline.
