About M-Audio

M-Audio has been building affordable MIDI controllers and audio interfaces since 1998. Based in Cumberland, Rhode Island, they're owned by inMusic Brands and focus on gear that works right out of the box. Their controllers use semi-weighted keys, velocity-sensitive pads, and tight DAW integration. The Keystation series is a studio staple. The AIR series adds drum pads and transport controls. If you need to get MIDI into your DAW without spending a fortune, M-Audio has been doing that longer than most.

Keyboard Controllers

M-Audio's keyboard controllers range from compact 25-key models to full 88-key weighted options. The Keystation series uses synth-action keys. The Hammer 88 Pro uses graded hammer-action keys that feel closer to an acoustic piano. Most models include pitch and mod wheels, octave buttons, and USB bus power. The AIR series adds 16 velocity-sensitive pads, eight assignable knobs, and bundled software. These controllers map to Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, and most other DAWs without custom scripting.

Audio Interfaces

M-Audio's interfaces prioritize low latency and clean preamps at entry-level prices. The AIR series uses Crystal preamps with a wide gain range. Most models include MIDI I/O, direct monitoring, and USB-C connectivity. The M-Track series bundles software instruments and DAW trials. These interfaces work for solo recording, podcast production, and basic home studio setups. They're not boutique, but they're reliable and well-supported.

Studio Monitors

M-Audio builds nearfield monitors for bedroom studios and project spaces. The BX series uses Kevlar woofers and silk-dome tweeters. The AV series targets multimedia production and casual listening. These monitors include front-panel volume controls, rear-ported designs, and multiple input options. They're voiced for general-purpose mixing, not critical mastering. Expect accurate midrange and enough low-end extension for electronic music and hip-hop production.
