About Boz Digital Labs

Founded in 2013 by Boz Millar in Olympia, Washington, Boz Digital Labs builds mixing and mastering plug-ins that do one job well. The company's approach is straightforward: combine familiar processors in unusual ways, give them memorable names, and let the tools speak for themselves. Big Clipper and Little Clipper handle clipping and limiting duties. The Hoser and T-Bone tackle EQ with character. Bark of Dog, Gatey Watey, and The Wall solve specific mix problems without pretense. Beyond processors, Boz also develops the Master Keys sampled piano line, which pairs detailed sampling with modeling inside a proprietary host plug-in. Each piano is named after the actual instrument sampled, like the New York L 1926, a 1926 Steinway Model L kept in Olympia.

Clippers and Limiters

Big Clipper 2 and Little Clipper 2 are Boz's take on clipping as a mix tool, not just a mastering afterthought. Big Clipper handles full-mix duties with multiband clipping and brick-wall limiting. Little Clipper works on individual tracks, adding punch without the pumping you get from traditional compression. The Wall 2 is a true-peak limiter designed to catch intersample peaks and keep your master from distorting on streaming codecs. These tools are built for engineers who want control over transient shaping and loudness without resorting to generic maximizers.

Character EQs

T-Bone 2, The Hoser 2, and Bark of Dog are Boz's character EQ line. T-Bone is a tilt EQ that shifts the entire frequency spectrum around a pivot point, useful for broad tonal adjustments without stacking bands. The Hoser and Hoser XT add harmonic saturation and mid-range focus, modeled after a specific piece of analog gear. Bark of Dog is a resonant filter with a steep slope, designed for creative filtering and frequency carving. These are not surgical EQs. They color the signal, and that's the point.

Sampled Pianos

The Master Keys line includes deeply sampled acoustic pianos that load inside Boz's proprietary Master Keys player plug-in. Each piano is named after the specific instrument: New York L 1926 is a 1926 Steinway Model L, serial number 241663. New York L 1991 is a newer Steinway from the same line. Chicago Upright 1927 is a vintage upright. Every piano ships in two versions: Pro, with all notes sampled and multiple mic positions at around 7GB, and Lite, with every third note sampled and a single mic at 50MB. The player combines sampling with modeling, giving you control over hammer hardness, string resonance, and pedal noise.
