Description
The Korg MicroKORG S adds built-in stereo speakers and an expanded preset library to the proven MicroKORG platform. Two 2W speakers let you play, practice, and perform without external amplification, while the same DSP-based analog modeling engine that defined the original MicroKORG provides the sound. With 37 mini keys, battery operation, a vocoder with included microphone, and up to 256 programs, the MicroKORG S is a portable synthesizer that is ready to play anywhere.
Analog Modeling Engine
The virtual analog synthesis engine offers two oscillators per voice with eight voice polyphony. Waveform types span sawtooth, square, triangle, sine, formant, noise, and PCM/DWGS selections. A multimode resonant filter, two ADSR envelope generators, and two LFOs provide the shaping and modulation tools expected from a subtractive synthesizer. The MicroKORG S ships with 128 factory programs and 128 additional programs, covering a wide range of synth leads, pads, basses, arpeggiated sequences, and vocoder presets.
Built-in Speakers and Portability
Two 2W stereo speakers are integrated into the top panel, delivering enough volume for practice, bedroom jams, and casual performance. Six AA batteries provide hours of wireless operation, making the MicroKORG S fully portable for busking, travel, or anywhere an outlet is not available.
Vocoder
The 8-band vocoder accepts input from the included gooseneck microphone and maps its spectral characteristics onto the synthesizer output. Formant shift and filter cutoff adjustments let you tailor the vocal character from classic robot speech to smooth harmonic blending.
