Description
The Genelec 8351B is the largest nearfield member of The Ones family — a 3-way SAM coaxial point-source monitor delivering main monitor performance from a compact enclosure. Its Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver places a 130 mm midrange and 25 mm tweeter concentrically on the same acoustic axis, providing time-coherent point-source imaging. Dual oval bass drivers extend the response down to 32 Hz, enabling full-range monitoring without a subwoofer. GLM room calibration ensures the 8351B adapts perfectly to any acoustic environment.
Acoustic Design
- Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC): Coaxially mounted 130 mm midrange and 25 mm tweeter for true point-source performance
- Dual oval bass drivers: Two 101 x 218 mm elliptical woofers deliver deep, controlled bass to 32 Hz
- Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW): Controls directivity for wide, consistent imaging and reduced room interaction
- Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE): Die-cast aluminium cabinet minimizes edge diffraction
- Iso-Pod stand: Decouples and tilts the monitor for optimal axis alignment
SAM (Smart Active Monitoring)
Connected via GLM network (dual RJ45), the 8351B is calibrated using GLM software with up to 16 individual room correction filters. The system compensates for room modes, boundary reinforcement, and speaker-to-speaker variations while managing level, delay, and subwoofer integration automatically.
