Description
The Alesis SamplePad 4 is a compact, four-pad percussion and sample-triggering instrument. Strike its four velocity-sensitive rubber pads with sticks, mallets, or your hands to fire off built-in drum sounds or your own samples, then mount it to a snare or cymbal stand to add electronic percussion to an acoustic kit. It ships ready to play, with a power adapter and a multipad mounting clamp in the box.
Sounds and Sampling
A built-in library of 25 of the most commonly requested percussion and electronic drum sounds is arranged into 10 ready-to-play preset kits, so you can plug in and perform right away. Load your own 16-bit mono or stereo WAV samples and loops from an SD or SDHC card (up to 32GB, FAT32) to store up to 512 samples across your own user kits. You can drag and drop samples from a Mac or PC over USB without removing the card, and tune or add reverb to any sound.
Pads and Visibility
The four pads are laid out as two larger lower pads and two raised bar pads, with the raised pads well suited to cymbal and effect sounds. Blue LED lighting around each pad keeps everything visible on dark stages, and the backlit LCD with four cursor buttons makes browsing kits and editing parameters straightforward.
Expansion and Connectivity
A rear 1/4" TRS trigger input lets you expand the SamplePad 4 with an additional single or dual-zone trigger pad. USB-MIDI in and out connects the unit to a computer for use with virtual instruments and recording software, while stereo 1/4" main outputs and a dedicated 1/4" headphone output with volume control cover both stage and practice use.
