About Soundiron

Soundiron is a US-based sample library developer founded in 2011 by Mike Peaslee, Gregg Stephens, and Chris Marshall. The company emerged from the dissolution of Tonehammer and launched with an August 2011 sale that set the tone for what would become a catalog of over 200 virtual instruments. Soundiron builds primarily for Native Instruments Kontakt, with many libraries in open format requiring the full retail version rather than the free Kontakt Player. The unlocked WAV samples give you direct access to the raw recordings. They're known for large-scale choirs, epic percussion, and unusual found-object instruments that bring genuine character to a session. Their annual Halloween-timed Sick series has become a go-to for horror and sound-design work.

Choirs and Vocal Libraries

Soundiron's choir libraries are deep-sampled ensembles recorded with multiple mic positions and extensive articulations. Requiem Light Symphonic Choir delivers a full symphonic ensemble with the control you need for film and game scoring. These libraries capture the natural dynamics and breath of real singers, not the synthetic smoothness of a synth patch. You get true legato, staccato, marcato, and a range of syllables and vowels that let you shape phrases with precision. The recordings are clean and detailed enough to sit in a dense orchestral mix or carry a cue on their own.

Epic and World Percussion

The percussion catalog includes both traditional and rare instruments recorded in unique spaces. Ancient Greek Percussion features hand-built instruments by Panagiotis Stefos of LyrAvlos in Athens, giving you access to sounds that don't exist in standard sample libraries. Drums of St Paul was recorded in the sanctuary hall of St Paul's Church in San Francisco, capturing the natural reverb of a large stone space. Knockout Drums was made with metal drummer Navene Koperweis and engineer Zack Ohren, delivering aggressive, tight-miked drum sounds built for heavy production. These libraries give you the texture and room tone that make percussion feel like it was recorded in a real space, not a dead booth.

Horror and Sound Design

The Sick series is Soundiron's annual Halloween release, now seven editions deep. Sick 7: Voices of the Dead continues the tradition of disturbing vocal recordings, processed textures, and unsettling ambiences designed for horror scoring and sound design. These libraries are built for film, game audio, and any project that needs tension and unease. The sounds range from processed vocals and found-object percussion to atmospheric drones and glitchy electronic textures. They're not subtle, and that's the point.
