universal-audio-ua-volt876
Universal Audio Volt 876 Rackmount USB Audio Interface

The Universal Audio Volt 876 is a 1U rackmount USB audio interface with eight mic preamps, built for recording a full band. Each preamp has a Vintage mode inspired by the UA 610 tube preamp and an analog 76 Compressor based on the 1176, and conversion runs at up to 32-bit/192 kHz. Sixteen channels of ADAT I/O bring it to 24 inputs and 28 outputs, and it can link with two more Volt 876 units or work as an eight-channel preamp expander for an Apollo or other ADAT interface.

Vintage Preamps and 76 Compressors

Vintage mode switches on per channel and uses UA's tube emulation circuitry to add the warmth and presence of the 610 console preamp to mics, line sources and instruments. The 76 Compressor runs at a 6:1 ratio with three presets: VOC for voice, GTR for guitar and FAST for drums. The preamps are digitally controlled, so Assistive Auto-Gain sets levels and the UAD Console app or LUNA saves and recalls every front-panel setting.

Monitoring and Connections

The front panel holds two mic/line inputs with switchable Hi-Z for guitar and bass, a talkback mic with a Dim/Talk button, and two headphone outputs with their own volume controls. The rear carries six more combo inputs, eight balanced line outputs with alternate speakers on outputs 3-4, two ADAT inputs and outputs, word clock in and out, and 5-pin MIDI In and Out. UAD Console adds two low-latency cue mixes with talkback. The Volt 876 runs on AC power through an IEC inlet and comes with rack ears and rubber feet for rack or desktop use.

Features

24-in/28-out USB audio interface with 32-bit/192 kHz conversion

Eight digitally controlled mic preamps with 60 dB of gain

Vintage mode and 76 Compressor on every channel

Assistive Auto-Gain and full session recall in UAD Console and LUNA

Two front-panel inputs with switchable Hi-Z for guitar and bass

16 channels of ADAT I/O, or stereo S/PDIF, for expansion

Links up to three Volt 876 units for 24 analog preamps

Standalone ADAT mode as an 8 x 8 preamp expander

Built-in talkback mic and two low-latency cue mixes

Two headphone outputs with independent volume controls

ALT speaker switching on line outputs 3-4

Switchable +48V phantom power and polarity inversion on each channel

Class compliant on Mac, iPad and iPhone; ASIO driver for Windows from UA Connect

Rack ears and rubber feet included for 1U rack or desktop use

Specifications

Simultaneous I/O: 24-in/28-out

Analog inputs: Two front XLR/TRS combo (mic/line/instrument), six rear XLR/TRS combo (mic/line)

Analog outputs: Eight 1/4" TRS balanced line outputs (monitor on 1-2, alternate monitor on 3-4), two 1/4" stereo headphone outputs

Digital I/O: Two ADAT optical inputs and outputs (16 channels at 44.1/48 kHz, S/MUX at higher rates), S/PDIF on optical port 1

Word clock: BNC in and out, switchable 75 ohm input termination

MIDI: In and Out, 5-pin DIN

76 Compressor: 6:1 ratio; VOC 2 ms attack, 300 ms release; GTR 1.5 ms attack, 700 ms release; FAST 30 µs attack, 35 ms release

Conversion: 32-bit, 44.1 to 192 kHz

Mic inputs: 116 dB dynamic range (A-weighted), -110 dB THD+N, 14 dBu maximum input, 2 kilohms

Instrument inputs: 12.5 dBu maximum input, 1 megohm

Line inputs: 116 dB dynamic range, 22 dBu maximum input, 10 kilohms

Monitor and line outputs: 119 dB dynamic range, -111 dB THD+N, 20.2 dBu maximum output

Headphone outputs: 225 mW per channel into 32 ohms, 65 mW into 300 ohms

USB: USB 2.0, USB-C connector

Power: 100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, IEC inlet, 35 W maximum

Dimensions (W x D x H): 17 x 13.1 x 1.7 in (43.2 x 33.3 x 4.3 cm), 1U

Weight: 9.0 lbs (4.08 kg)

In the Box

Volt 876 USB audio interface

IEC AC power cable

1.5 m USB-C to USB-C cable with attached USB-C to USB-A adapter

Two 19-inch rack ears with screws

Four rubber feet with screws

Getting Started card
