universal-audio-mic-uasc-1
Universal Audio SC-1 Condenser Microphone with Hemisphere Modeling

The Universal Audio SC-1 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone for home and professional studios, made for vocals, acoustic guitar, strings and drums. It comes with UA's Hemisphere Mic Collection plug-in, which gives the SC-1 the sound of eight classic studio condensers. A linear circuit, 12 dB self-noise and 145 dB maximum SPL let the same mic handle a quiet vocal and a loud guitar cab.

Eight Studio Condensers in One Mic

Hemisphere uses the same modeling technology as UA's Sphere microphones. Once you register the SC-1 in the UA Connect app, the plug-in installs as a native version for your DAW and a UAD-2 version for Apollo interfaces, so you can record through a model in real time. Its filter, proximity and axis controls change the tone and the virtual mic position after tracking, which helps with sibilant vocals or a harsh guitar amp.

Setup

The SC-1 is a side-address mic with a fixed cardioid pattern, and the UA badge marks the front. It needs 48 V phantom power from your interface or preamp. The included mount threads onto a 5/8" mic stand, and the thread adapter fits 3/8" stands.

Features

Large-diaphragm condenser with a fixed cardioid pattern

Hemisphere plug-in with eight models: LD-12, LD-47K, LD-67 NOS, LD-87 Vintage, LD-103, LD-251, LD-414 US and LD-800

Filter, proximity and axis controls inside the plug-in

Native plug-in for your DAW, plus a UAD-2 version for real-time tracking on Apollo

Linear circuit with extended dynamic range

145 dB maximum SPL for loud sources

Specifications

Microphone type: Condenser

Polar pattern: Cardioid

Frequency range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz

Sensitivity: -39 dB (0 dB = 1 V/Pa at 1 kHz)

Output impedance: 200 ohms

Self-noise: 12 dB

Maximum SPL: 145 dB (1% THD at 1 kHz)

Phantom power: 48 VDC, 3 mA typical

Connector: 3-pin XLR male

Dimensions: 162 mm (6.4") long, 52 mm diameter

Weight: 363 g (0.8 lb)

In the Box

SC-1 microphone

Mic stand mount

5/8" to 3/8" thread adapter

UA carrying case

UA cable tie

Hemisphere Mic Collection plug-in (download after registering the mic)
