A 5 in cone woofer and a 3/4 in metal dome tweeter each have their own 50 W Class D amplifier. The amplifiers, active crossover and driver protection sit inside the die-cast aluminium enclosure, so no external power amplifier is needed. Rear-panel switches adjust the bass and treble to suit the room and the mounting position.

Key Features

Active design: Drivers, power amplifiers, active crossover filters and protection circuitry are all inside the speaker.

MDE enclosure: The die-cast aluminium Minimum Diffraction Enclosure is shaped to reduce edge diffraction.

DCW waveguide: Genelec's Directivity Control Waveguide controls dispersion and reduces early reflections from nearby surfaces.

Room response controls: Treble Tilt adds 2 dB above 5 kHz, Bass Tilt cuts below 2 kHz by 2, 4 or 6 dB, and Bass Roll-Off cuts 4 dB at 55 Hz.

Level control: A rear-panel control with 40 dB of continuous range matches the speaker to the source.

Daisy-chaining: The balanced 3-pin Euroblock plug takes a second cable that carries the signal on to the next speaker.

ISS Autostart: The speaker drops to standby, typically under 0.5 W, some time after playback ends and wakes when signal returns.
