dynaudio-lyd-7b
Dynaudio LYD 7 7" Active Nearfield Studio Monitor (Black)

The Dynaudio LYD 7 is a bi-amped nearfield studio monitor with a 7-inch MSP woofer and a 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter, made in Denmark for producers and engineers who mix at the desk with the speakers 1 to 2 meters away. Class-D amplifiers deliver 50 W for the woofer and 50 W for the tweeter, and rear-panel DSP switches set the bass extension, the tonal balance and a filter for placement near a wall. This listing is for one speaker in Black Satin.

Tuning for Your Room

Three DSP switches on the back adapt the LYD 7 to where it sits. Bass Extension moves the low cutoff 10 Hz lower or higher: the lowest setting gives the deepest bass for mixing at moderate levels, and the highest gives the most output. Sound Balance tilts the whole response by 1.5 dB at each end toward a brighter or darker sound, and the Position switch adds a correction filter for speakers placed within 50 cm of a wall. A three-position sensitivity switch matches the speaker to consumer or professional output levels.

Drivers and Amplification

The 7-inch woofer uses Dynaudio's MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) cone with a low-mass aluminum voice coil and a vented ferrite magnet. The soft dome tweeter takes over at 4.3 kHz, and each driver has its own Class-D amplifier. The cabinet is a rear-ported bass reflex design, and an auto-standby mode shuts the amplifier section down when no audio is present and wakes it when signal returns.

Features

7-inch MSP woofer and 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter

Bi-amped design with Class-D amplification (50 W woofer, 50 W tweeter)

Bass Extension switch: -10 Hz, 0 or +10 Hz

Sound Balance tilt filter: Bright, Neutral or Dark

Position switch for free-standing placement or within 50 cm of a wall

Input sensitivity switch: +6, 0 or -6 dB

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs

Auto-standby mode

Made in Denmark

Specifications

Type: 2-way active nearfield monitor with DSP crossover

Woofer: 7-inch MSP

Tweeter: 1.1-inch soft dome

Amplification: 50 W woofer, 50 W tweeter, Class D

Crossover frequency: 4.3 kHz

Frequency response: 55 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB); 45 Hz to 21 kHz (-6 dB, Bass Extension at -10 Hz)

Maximum SPL: 109 dB (1 m, pair)

Inputs: XLR balanced, RCA unbalanced

Input sensitivity: 100 mV for 85 dB at 1 m (0 dB setting)

Enclosure: Rear-ported bass reflex

Power: 100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz

Power consumption: 100 W maximum, 0.5 W standby

Dimensions (W x H x D): 186 x 320 x 296 mm (7.3 x 12.6 x 11.7 in)

Weight: 8 kg (17.6 lb)

Finish: Black Satin

Speakers per box: 1
