dynaudio-lyd-5b
Dynaudio LYD 5 5" Active Studio Monitor (Black)

The Dynaudio LYD 5 is a compact active nearfield monitor for small studios, home setups and desktop mixing. Its handmade 5-inch MSP woofer uses the same lightweight aluminum voice coil as Dynaudio's hi-fi speakers and works with a 1.1-inch soft-dome tweeter, two 50 W Class-D amplifiers and a 24-bit/96 kHz DSP signal path. Dynaudio tuned it to stay precise at low listening levels, so detail comes through without pushing the volume. This listing is one speaker in Black Satin.

Tuning to Your Room

Three DSP switches on the rear panel adapt the LYD 5 to the room. Bass Extension moves the low-frequency cutoff 10 Hz lower or higher, trading bass reach against maximum level. Sound Balance tilts the response by 1.5 dB at either end of the spectrum for a brighter or darker voicing, and Position applies a boundary filter for speakers placed within 50 cm of a wall.

Connections and Setup

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs take a feed from an audio interface, mixer or monitor controller. A three-position sensitivity switch sets the maximum input level at 0, +6 or +12 dBu, and an Auto standby mode shuts the amplifiers down when no signal is present until audio returns at the input.

Features

Handmade 5" MSP woofer with aluminum voice coil

1.1" soft-dome tweeter

Bi-amplified with 2 x 50 W Class-D amplification

24-bit/96 kHz DSP signal path

Bass Extension switch: -10 Hz, 0 Hz or +10 Hz

Sound Balance switch: Bright, Neutral or Dark

Position switch: Free or Wall (within 50 cm of a wall)

Input sensitivity switch: +6 dB, 0 dB or -6 dB

Auto standby mode

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs

Made in Denmark

Specifications

Type: Active 2-way nearfield monitor

Woofer: 5" MSP

Tweeter: 1.1" soft dome

Amplifier power: 50 W woofer, 50 W tweeter, Class-D

Crossover: DSP-based, 5.2 kHz

Frequency range: 60 Hz to 21 kHz (+/-3 dB)

Maximum SPL: 106 dB (1 m, pair)

Sensitivity: 100 mV for 85 dB SPL at 1 m (0 dB setting)

Enclosure: Bass reflex, rear port

Inputs: XLR balanced, RCA unbalanced

Power: 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz

Power consumption: 100 W maximum, 0.5 W standby

Dimensions (W x H x D): 170 x 260 x 211 mm (6.7 x 10.2 x 8.3 in)

Weight: 5.7 kg (12.6 lbs)

Finish: Black Satin

Sold as: Single speaker
