dynaudio-lyd-48b-r
Dynaudio LYD 48 8" 3-Way Active Studio Monitor (Black, Right)

The Dynaudio LYD 48 is the largest monitor in the LYD series, a 3-way active design for near or midfield listening in project and professional studios. An 8-inch MSP woofer, a 4-inch MSP midrange and a 1.1-inch soft-dome tweeter each run from their own Class-D amplifier, 80 W for the woofer and 50 W each for the midrange and tweeter, through a 24-bit/96 kHz DSP signal path. It plays to 112 dB maximum SPL as a pair, with response down to 50 Hz. This listing is the right speaker in Black Satin.

Left and Right Models

The LYD 48 lies horizontally, and Dynaudio builds it in dedicated left and right versions. The right speaker carries its woofer on the left side of the baffle, so when the pair is set up, both woofers sit on the inside, which is the placement the LYD manual recommends. Pair it with the LYD 48 left speaker in the same finish. The manual puts the ideal listening distance at 1.5 to 2.5 m.

Tuning to Your Room

Three DSP switches on the rear panel adapt the LYD 48 to the room. Bass Extension moves the low-frequency cutoff 10 Hz lower or higher, trading bass reach against maximum level. Sound Balance tilts the response by 1.5 dB at either end of the spectrum for a brighter or darker voicing, and Position applies a boundary filter for speakers placed within 50 cm of a wall.

Features

3-way design with 8" MSP woofer, 4" MSP midrange and 1.1" soft-dome tweeter

Tri-amplified: 80 W woofer, 50 W midrange and 50 W tweeter, Class-D

24-bit/96 kHz DSP signal path

Horizontal cabinet in dedicated left and right versions

Bass Extension switch: -10 Hz, 0 Hz or +10 Hz

Sound Balance switch: Bright, Neutral or Dark

Position switch: Free or Wall (within 50 cm of a wall)

Input sensitivity switch: +6 dB, 0 dB or -6 dB

Auto standby mode

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs

Made in Denmark

Specifications

Type: Active 3-way near and midfield monitor

Woofer: 8" MSP

Midrange: 4" MSP

Tweeter: 1.1" soft dome

Amplifier power: 80 W woofer, 50 W midrange, 50 W tweeter, Class-D

Crossover: DSP-based, 460 Hz and 5.5 kHz

Frequency range: 50 Hz to 21 kHz (+/-3 dB)

Maximum SPL: 112 dB (1 m, pair)

Sensitivity: 100 mV for 85 dB SPL at 1 m (0 dB setting)

Enclosure: Bass reflex, rear port

Inputs: XLR balanced, RCA unbalanced

Power: 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz

Power consumption: 100 W maximum, 0.5 W standby

Dimensions (W x H x D): 369 x 234 x 328 mm (14.5 x 9.2 x 12.9 in)

Weight: 12 kg (26.5 lbs)

Orientation: Horizontal, right speaker

Finish: Black Satin

Sold as: Single speaker
