dynaudio-core-sub
Dynaudio Core Sub Active Studio Subwoofer (Dark Grey)

The Dynaudio Core Sub is the full-size subwoofer for the Core range of reference monitors. Four side-firing 9-inch MSP+ Hybrid Drive woofers sit in a sealed cabinet with 2 x 500 W of Pascal Class D amplification, and the response stays within 3 dB from 15 Hz to 160 Hz. It runs on the same DSP and electronics as the Core monitors, so it matches their tonality and setup, from extending a single speaker through 2.1 bass management to a theatrical LFE channel.

Hybrid Drive Woofers

The MSP+ Hybrid Drive is made mainly of aluminum for stiffness. A paper damping layer on the back and a Magnesium Silicate Polymer cap on the front stop the aluminum from ringing, which keeps the bass tight and controlled. It is an improved version of the driver in Dynaudio's 18S subwoofer.

Setup and Placement

The Bandwidth switch engages an 80 Hz low-pass filter to match a Core monitor set to its 80 Hz high-pass, and Position switches compensate for soffit, wall and corner placement. An Attenuation switch handles systems with two or four subwoofers, and the Digital Channel switch picks left, right or left plus right from the AES3 stream. Up to three Core Subs stack, indentations on top locate a Core monitor, and VESA points allow wall mounting.

Features

Four side-firing 9-inch MSP+ Hybrid Drive woofers

Sealed enclosure

Two Pascal Class D amplifiers, 500 W each

Core DSP with 80 Hz low-pass, position and boundary filters

Attenuation switch for two- or four-subwoofer systems

Analog XLR and AES3 inputs, AES3 pass-through output and word clock input

Stacks up to three high, with top indentations for Core monitors

VESA mounting points

Auto on/off standby

Drivers made in Denmark, each subwoofer calibrated at the factory

Specifications

Type: Active subwoofer, sealed

Woofers: 4 x 9-inch MSP+ Hybrid Drive

Amplifiers: Pascal Class D, 2 x 500 W

Frequency response (±3 dB): 15 Hz to 160 Hz

Frequency response (-6 dB): 14 Hz to 165 Hz

Maximum SPL: 106 dB at 1 m anechoic, 112 dB half space

Inputs: Balanced analog XLR, AES3 digital XLR, BNC word clock (75 ohm)

Output: AES3 XLR pass-through

Digital resolution: Up to 24-bit/192 kHz (32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz), no sample-rate conversion

Service port: USB Type B for firmware updates

Power: 100 to 120 V or 200 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz, 0.5 W standby

Dimensions (W x H x D): 390 x 514 x 365 mm (15 3/8 x 20 x 14 3/8 in)

Weight: 48 kg (105.8 lb)

Finish: Dark Grey

Units per box: 1
